Tony Edwards, a native of McAlester, has dedicated himself to serving the legal needs of his community. Recognized for his exceptional legal acumen and unwavering ethical standards, he has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, denoting the highest level of proficiency and integrity in his field.
After completing his undergraduate studies in sociology and psychology at East Central University in Ada, Edwards pursued his legal education at Oklahoma University College of Law, earning his J.D. in 1982. He commenced his legal career with a general-practice law firm in Ada, where he gained valuable experience over five years before returning to McAlester to join the esteemed Stipe Law Firm.
At the Stipe firm, Edwards shifted his focus to civil litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. In 2006, driven by a desire to provide more personalized service, he founded the Edwards firm. Since its inception, he has concentrated on plaintiff’s civil litigation, handling cases spanning motor vehicle accidents, nursing home negligence, defective products, and oil-field injuries. Additionally, he represents clients in Social Security cases and has contributed to numerous mass-tort cases involving defective products.
Edwards’s dedication has yielded numerous significant verdicts and settlements for his clients. Notably, he secured a confidential settlement with Ford Motor Co. on the brink of trial in a products-liability case concerning a gas tank design flaw. In another case, he advocated for the family of an East Central University football player who fell victim to a hate-crime incident.
Regardless of the case complexity, Edwards approaches each matter with unwavering commitment to his clients’ best interests.
“Our motto, ‘We care. We fight. We win.’, reflects our sincere dedication. We strive to treat people with fairness and provide them with our utmost effort,” he remarks.
Outside of his legal practice, Edwards and his wife, DeVonna, actively participate in the Lakewood Christian Church, where he serves as an elder for more than two decades. They are also involved in Shared Blessings, an organization founded by DeVonna in 1998, aimed at providing clothing and essential items to those in need. Their philanthropic efforts have expanded to include food distribution, disaster relief, and emergency financial assistance.
During his leisure time, Edwards enjoys golfing and passionately supports Oklahoma University sports teams.
